David founded the Academy in 2017 in association with Golf Channel Academy where he was a featured on-air instructor. Golf Digest magazine ranks David among the “Ten Best Teachers” in Illinois.

He has assembled an elite team of coaches in Illinois and Florida, equipped with the technology tools to provide a personalized learning experience for adults and juniors of all skill levels.

His student successes include active players on the PGA tour, LPGA tour plus top ranked collegiate and high school players. He has been a Class A PGA member since 1995. Previously David was the Director of Golf Operations at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club responsible for merchandising, tournament operations and corporate event planning.

Prior to that, he owned Piper Glen Golf Club in Springfield, IL and was Head Golf Professional at St. Charles Country Club from 1997- 2007.

Ben Nelson

PGA Golf Coach

Ben is a PGA Professional Golf Coach who has taught more than 6,000 lessons, has a handicap of +2, has worked in equipment R&D, and has been playing for more than 25 years. He has fit PGA Tour players for equipment, is an expert in the use of every major launch monitor, and coaches with video in every session.

Are you a passionate golfer looking to set a personal best this year; but a lack of distance, slice, or triple digit scorecard keeps you from accomplishing your goals?

Instruction will be tailored to you and your specific game. You’ll learn how and why you are having the struggles you’re having, how to make the change, and how to practice to make it all stick.

Mason McKenna

Assistant Golf Coach

Mason is currently working towards his PGA of America membership through the PGA Golf Management program at the University of Nebraska — Lincoln. In his young career, he has already worked as a coach at 5 different facilities. His experience spans over 6 years and includes two dozen unique player engagement programs for both juniors and adults.

Mason takes pride in having a youthful and creative approach to coaching. His favorite thing to do with his students is to take them on the golf course for playing lessons. With Mason, you get a young, enthusiastic coach that understands how to get the most out of your golf game.!

Dick Raber

PGA Golf Coach

Richard (Dick) Raber has been passionate about teaching and coaching for over 50 years. He taught and coached for 33 years at the high school level in Dixon, IL and Morris, IL. Dick earned PGA Class A membership in 1997.
